BEING SUCCESSFUL IN THE COURSE
In the first two weeks of our course, the main focus is on getting ready for open networked learning and participating successfully in the course. It is probably useful to think about what successful participation in a course like this means. What does it mean for you?

The following video provides one example of what success is and how to study in a course like ours:

As stated in the movie, we should try to get to know each other and we need to familiarize ourselves with the tools we use. In order to achieve this, we have three small assignments for you.

ACTIVITIES FOR ALL LEARNERS

1. Set up and connect your blog
This course is very much about reflection as well as learning through writing and discussing. This work is done on personal blogs, connected to the course home page. The reason for this is twofold. First, learning is very much a social activity and we have a fantastic group of participants from many different backgrounds. We can learn from and with each other by commenting on each others blog posts. Second, we want you to be able to keep your reflections and comments even after the course has come to an end. Blogs are a perfect tool for both goals. Therefore, if you do not have a personal blog already, we would like you to set one up.

Each module in the course will build around a reflective blog post. These, as well as other posts you write, are collected to our connected blogs section on the front page of the course website. To connect your blog just register it in the form on the page below.

2. Write an introduction

For a distance course like ours and your learning, it is very important to get to know each other. Therefore, tell us a little bit about yourself. You can reflect on your motivation for taking this course, your experiences in using social media, which module you are particularly interested in, other topics which are of interest regarding customer experience, your ”academic” background and if you are reading scientific articles as part of your job, and most important of all what you want to get out of this course.

When you are finished, publish the introduction on your blog! Upload a picture of you, so we can attach a face to your name, which makes everything so more nicer. If you want you can also record a short video of yourself, talking about your expectations on the course.

3. Create a Twitter account
We will use Twitter as a means for communication throughout the course. If you have an account today already, all you have to do is start using our hashtag #mssl70 to join the discussion around the course and find all its related tweets. Once you write a new reflective blog post, tweet about it and include our hashtag.

If you don´t have a Twitter account, please register for one at www.twitter.com.

You might also want to follow @joergelp and @openMSSL.
