The learning environments I choose for this assignment are the physical classroom\/lecture room and the digital learning platform Canvas.<\/p>\n
The lecture room has a classical frontal arrangement and can fit cca. 40 students. It is well suited for frontal lectures (by teacher) or presentations (by students) using board and\/or projector. Actually, one advantage of this room is that the smart board projector and white board can be used at the same time. There are some tools available (for example a geometry set for the white board) and enough electricity sockets to accommodate the use of computers or other devices (for example in laboratory work or practical demonstrations). The natural light in the room is sufficient and the tables and chairs can be easily moved, to allow the rearrangement of the room, for example for group work. There is enough space to move between the tables, allowing the teacher to interact with the students.<\/p>\n
The digital platform Canvas is a relatively new environment and I am still learning all the features. I like that the students can upload their assignment to the platform and I can grade their assignments and give individual feedback directly, using SpeedGrader(TM). I am also discovering the possibility to share content in Canvas among universities\/teachers, using the \u201cCommons\u201d feature.<\/p>\n
My general reflection regarding the learning environments is that in my lectures I mainly use classical lectures, whereas I try to implements modern concepts and that I use only in a very limited amount the digital environments. I only had very few remote students with whom I communicated mainly via Canvas and email. As much as I would like to develop more digital skills and use them more in teaching-learning activities, I still think that face-to-face interaction between students and teacher remains very important due to the fact that I find it difficult, if not impossible, to transmit the enthusiasm for a discipline via digital communication.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
