The\u00a0viewing of the\u00a0video clips from David White gave myself\u00a0a view of having not been exposed to this form of interpretation from the use and skills afforded to users of the internet in the teaching educational space. The key question we looked at was the digital literacy, what is it and how can it be used and optimized in the educational space. We asked ourselves what is it to be digitally literate and how do we curb the fear of the unknown and the use of these new skills. The key question is what is\u00a0digital literacy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It is merely being able to use diverse technologies and effectively retrieve new skills, interpret them effectively and put them to use in the classroom space, be it literal or virtual. they are numerous ways to look at it, but as students can sometimes be angst in the\u00a0use of them, its best to go gradual and them build upon each new skill.\u00a0To put it succinctly,\u00a0 digital literacy is the ability to understand and use information on more than one platform using the digital environment. The added\u00a0question of\u00a0private versus professional comes to the fore in that, one must always be mindful of the context, comfort levels and the use of the different platforms to achieve the stated goals of the course or educational course. Another view of looking\u00a0 Mr Whites video clips,\u00a0was to look at the quadrant approach to the use of the internet. It can seen as to where the use of different media platforms will fall into and will it be personal\/institutional or visitor\/resident. in the context one can use this to see where the views the use of the internet, how one would use it, the end in mind and the application of it to achieve the stated goals of the learning approach.\u00a0 As this is my first time being exposed\u00a0to the Open Networked Learning programme, it has opened up new ways of viewing the use of the internet in the classroom, the new skills accessible and how to ensure the students attain the required skills and\u00a0knowledge to the stated goals. This can be pulled through the Digital literacy process’s and the application of it. It would be exciting to see it in action so to speak, but more importantly, see the Digital literacy of the\u00a0student and lecturers, taking it to a\u00a0level never seen before. Very exciting indeed for the Digital literate person!<\/p>\n
