Two courses in one

Understanding Customer Experience is offered in two different versions, running at the same time. It is offered as an “official” credit bearing distance course and as an open networked learning course.

The credit bearing course
This course is part of Karlstad University’s regular course catalogue. Participants need to apply through University Admissions (antagningen.se for the Swedish version) and have to fulfill certain requirements, such as several years of business experience. There are limited places available in the course and upon successful completion, participants will receive 6 credits. More information can be found on the official course homepage on www.kau.se.

To pass the course the participant needs to:

  • Actively participate in publishing own blog posts as well as commenting on other participants’ posts. Specifically, participants are required to write at least two blogposts for modules 2 to 5 and comment on at least 10 blogposts written by other participants regarding modules 2 to 5.
  • Write one assignment for module 2 to 5. Information for each assignment, including examination criteria, can be found in the related modules. Each assignment will be examined by the module facilitator and written feedback will be provided. A maximum of 20 points can be achieved, which means that participants need 12 points to receive a pass (G) and 16 points to receive a pass with distinction (VG). The participants need to pass all the assignments to pass the course.
  • Write a final report (last module) building on your assignments and blogposts. Information for the final report, including examination criteria, can be found in the module description. The report will be examined by one of the module facilitators and written feedback will be provided. A maximum of 20 points can be achieved, which means that participants need 12 points to receive a pass (G) and 16 points to receive a pass with distinction (VG).   The participants need to pass the final report to pass the course. In total (assignments and final report) participants can achieve 100 points in the course. A minimum of 60 points is required to pass the course (G) and a minimum of 80 points in order to pass with distinction (VG).

The open networked learning version
In this version, no prerequisites or requirements have to be met. The course is open to everyone and you can even join the course after it has started. Participants have access to all the learning resources and activities of the course, but will not be examined by teaching staff of Karlstad University and will therefore not receive any credits.

Interaction between participants
Participants in both versions of the course will interact during the course and take part in the same learning activities, such as commenting on each others blog posts, participating in webinars and discuss through the course hashtag #uce72 on Twitter. The course homepage will act as central hub for all participants and will integrate all blog posts of all participants.
