The Computer Science department at Karlstad University is committed to excellence in computer networking, security and privacy, and software engineering. Teaching is carried out at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Undergraduate Computer Science courses are offered up to 120 ECTS, with additional advanced courses and seminars at licenciate and Ph.D. level. Research in the Department is continually evolving. At present we have two Professors in Data Security and Privacy, and two Professors in Distributed and Communication Systems. As well as these areas, research is also carried out in the field of Software Engineering. The research group within computer science has been established as an excellent research group at Karlstad University. The establishment of excellent research groups is an important part of the university's strategic efforts to strengthen the research at Karlstad University. Funding from the Knowledge Foundation enables further strengthening of the research profile where researchers will develop high quality network services in collaboration with industry. The research profile is based on our strengths in networking and security research.
CTF, Service Research Center
CTF is one of the world´s leading research centers focusing on service management and value creation through service. CTF is a multidisciplinary research center at Karlstad University with an aim to ensure that CTF is at the leading edge of international research. CTF cooperates closely with service businesses, manufacturing companies, and public-service providers. Established in 1986, CTF now has 60 researchers and doctoral students who are variously involved in business administration, working life science, sociology, psychology and sociology of religion.
