This week we have completed and reviewed our storyboard and started with the creation of the course prototype. We had a fruitful discussion of the storyboard and overall progress so far on our regular Friday call:
- we have probably focused too much on technology and slightly lost sight of our main learning objectives and primary audience which has resulted these elements having being outweighed in our storyboard
- we have discovered that not all of us had the same understanding of our primary audience and learning objectives
- we had an interesting discussion about the purpose of the prototype: while Patrick and Asanka would have liked to improve weaknesses of our storyboard in the prototype, John and David felt thought that the prototype should reflect the story board as is, including flaws already found. We agreed on keeping the storyboard as is and clearly note in our prototype where changes have been made.
Next
All should start creating prototype elements and add them to the prototype pages of our team website (to avoid double-work, refer to the ‘feature table’ and indicate elements you intent to work on under ‘comments’). Ideally we would have exemplary prototype elements for all sequences of our course. To review progress we have scheduled an extra call Tuesday morning, 11 June 8AM BST.
General note on communication/documentation
Again we all found that the regular video conferences is very important to clarify conceptual and organisational topics as well as to reconnect with the team. Upon suggestion from Paige to record our session, John has summarized all main discussion points which we all think should have been standard practice from start.
