One of the many exciting aspects for or me about starting a new online course is being introduced to new tools. Considering we are only in week 2 ONL has certainly got off to a flyer in this regard!

• Zoom proved an good alternative to Blackboard Collaborate Ultra and Skype for group sessions (valuable for my discussions with non-Blackboard lecturers).
• Although I have experience with Google Hangouts, I was not familiar with Google Hangouts on Air. Another possible alternative to those mentioned above.
• During my session Google Hangouts on Air sessions, I was shown Symbaloo. This tool got my interest immediately as a tool for online portfolios. Unfortunately after some ‘playing’ it might not offer exactly what I want from a work perspective, but it adds another option for managing collaborative work in the lecture room
