So- the course is coming to an end. We have been given questions to reflect on and I do not know where to begin. I have recommended the course to so many of my teacher friends. I find myself talking about this course in a fascinated voice and my friends and family just laugh at me- some because they already know EVERYTHING that I am talking about- and some because they have NO CLUE what I am talking about. Makes me think about all the inequalities in life…

So- here we go:

  • What are the most important things that you have learnt through your engagement in the ONL course? Why?

The most important thing I have learnt is no doubt- as always- that I am still confused but on a  higher level. There is just so much out there and I am grasping a tiny corner of something very large. I have learnt so many tools for communication and presentation and where to find photos and pictures where I do not have to worry about copyright and I can even upload onto these platforms. Just brilliant!!!! When is the follow up course?????

  • How will your learning influence your practice?

I have soooooo many ideas and now all I have to do is put them into practice. More online seminars- especially catch up seminars. Much better that sitting with all those papers… and more online lectures and chats with students!!! and more short online lectures before seminars! and more course material on line. well, that is just the beginning of it…

  • What are your thoughts about using technology to enhance learning/teaching in your own context?
    • What are you going to do as a result of your involvement in ONL? Why?What are you going to do as a result of your involvement in ONL? Why?What suggestions do you have (activities and/or in general) for development of eLearning in your own teaching or context?

See above- I think that universities need to use more of the open resources available instead of creating their own tech solutions which are actually more often inferior to ones that are available for free. I would also like to implement more online quizzes and  feedback for students.

With this said- I would like to thank you all for a wonderful course- and if there is a follow up course over say a year where you would actually have more time to implement ideas and try new ideas I would definetely join that course. In that course we could have PBL groups interested in actually implementing online learning in an existing course and we could all participate in a PBL group with meetings once or twice per month and discuss ideas and challenges and the implementation of these changes into existing courses.

So- I finish up with ideas for a new course!!! Let me know when I can sign up! Catch you all later in that course!

Over and out!

PBL group work
Use this week to look at what the PBL group has achieved during the course, in terms of both group process and visual learning objects! Put together a short summary of the group’s work (using some tool you haven’t yet tried?) and share in the ONL community. Consider the following paragraphs:

  • Who were the members of the group and what have you accomplished during the course?
  • Reflect on your development as a group and the value of the PBL group for your learning?
Topic 5- Reflection on progress made by a beginner- and ideas for a new course to attend later…
