This topic was one I really enjoyed as it gave me greater clarity on how to improve my skills in this space and how one can see the many mechanics in play at any given time. I would like to put the literal meaning of the the collaborative and the co operative words. An example; Collaborative learning is a method of teaching and learning in which students team together to explore a significant question or create a meaningful project. Cooperative learning is groups work face-to-face and learn to work as a team. In small groups, students can share strengths and also develop their weaker skills.(google, examples.) As one can see the difference between the two in context, the collaborative space, I feel is the greater amount of learning can be achieved and the desired results can be achieved in relation to each students needs and objectives. When one looks at the added area of influence, by this I mean to facilitate the area within the collaboration space, I can see the significance of using the technique as an added way of massaging if you may to getting the students to think along the right path without you telling them the way to go. This is quite skill I feel as one must always be mindful of not giving the end result but also to ensure the learning phase is achieved and more. I feel another way of looking at collaborative learning, By this I mean cooperative learning could be; Use a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding of a subject, whilst collaborative learning; Explore a significant question or create a meaningful project. This one can clearly see that the overriding view in the collaborative space is one of creating new ways of achieving goals/objectives and the resilience to achieve it through the collaborative way of achieving it. To share with you my journey in the collaborative space at the outset, we where between both areas in the required space, but looking back, it was a mixture of both and maybe more. Once clearly defined, I can now see, where the key touch points are and the the need for the relevant focus on the process flow, the skills required and the use of facilitation in getting the students to think along the correct path, without them actually being driven, bu they drive it themselves. This can seen, by me looking back at the way my collaborative’s were done in the past and how it has improved since being on the ONL course. This topic has really widened my points of reference in the collaborative space and equipped myself with new skills. Role on 2019!
