This past week I joined the Open Networked Learning course so to learn more about using online learning tools, and how technology can assist in sharing and facilitating collaboration amongst students, educators and colleagues.

Learning however is most aptly done by doing, so in the past few days we were tasked to open google accounts, join and explore the google plus community, familiarize ourselves with the online course environment, and start a blog. As Alistair the course convenor put it, welcome to the Open Networked Learning course where you will be doing exactly that.

But a hands-on approach with so much technology and new things all around, is still quite daunting. Fortunately it looks like I’m joined by many other colleagues who share the same mix of excitement and fear, and in that respect, this quote seems to be very true:

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

I am very much looking forward to meeting and connecting with colleagues all across the world in this journey. I trust that we will learn a lot from this course, and from each other.

And I hope that we will have fun too! I have therefore included the picture above  to remind me of Lotta’s words that we should see the course as a playground for grown-ups, and enjoy the journey!
